In my practice of mapping, I loosely follow these topographic pathways to locate memories and feelings within these landscapes, rather than to own, conquer or assert my dominance over nature. Through tracing the nooks and crannies of the many gullies and hills that spill from the mountainside around me, I'm reminded of the cool rainforest floor, the changing song of the lyrebird and the ancient presence of tree ferns. I aim to capture these visions of memory and the calm flow I feel when returning to the rainforest, by limiting my pallet to a few shades of blue.
